Team Bio - Joy Siegel
Joy Siegel, sewerbabe, has been racing sailboats since the early 1970s when she bought her first boat - an International 505. Stories about her first gybe are legendary. In a weak moment she admitted she only bought the boat to impress a young man.
Joy became Commodore of the Santa Cruz Yacht Club in 1979 making her the youngest female to hold that office at a major west coast yacht club. Over the years she's sailed on numerous boats, but lately seems to prefer larger ones. She raced on Scorpio to Hawaii in 1998 and is an important part of the Scorpio team. She is a US SAILING Certified Regional Race Officer and has been declared Yachtswoman of the Year at the SCYC and twice at the St. Francis Yacht Club.
