                             Leukemia Cup and RBBS Practice

On September 1st, we put the boat in the water in preparation for our Sunday practice session.  At this session, we sailed several upwind and downwind legs, practiced some gybes and peels, and developed a To Do list that included new jib sheets and a new jib halyard.

On September 9th, we participated in the San Francisco Yacht Club Leukemia Cup, using it as another RBBS practice.  In this one-race event, we sailed without Malcolm, John Buchanan, and Marcy, and had two first-time substitutes (Jim Margeson and Chris Sidner) join us.  Our crew work was a bit off the pace.  But, we seemed to have decent speed sailing in light (10-16 knot) conditions.  Much to our surprise, we corrected first in the event beating two Sydneys, Recidivist, and a Farr 40.  So, we headed to the BBS with some confidence and looking forward to our late Wednesday practice session.  It turns out Rolex, apparently because of our performance in 2004 and 2005, asked if they could put a television cameraman aboard during our practice.  That should be interesting.
