Scorpio's Trial IRC Ratings

A major determinant in deciding which way to go with the Scorpio bottom problem, trial IRC certificates have been requested and in some cases have been received.  Following is a log of these:

1.     Current 2005 Endorsed IRC rating is 1.098.

2.     Requested on 12/11, received on 12/16.  Rating 1.114
        This rating presumed new carbon/fiberglass hull resulting in an 800 weight savings. 
        Displacement, age date, and overhang measurement changed.
        This is a 1.5% adverse rating hit.
        It seems the age date will automatically change with a new composite hull.
        With this rating we would have been third in the 2005 BBS.

3.     Requested 12/16, received on 12/19.  Rating 1.113
        This request presumed new carbon/fiberglass hull, but with the 800 pound weight savings bolted above keel.
        Apparently this is viewed as internal ballast, even if it's glassed in.
        This rating is very slightly better than the first trial rating.
        The bump in the age date to 2006 is too onerous to permit a new composite hull.

The bump in the age date and internal ballast changes is clearly too severe.  It appears we have no choice but to replate the existing hull.
